Zoie Palmer (born October 28, 1977) is an English-Canadian actress best known for her roles in Lost Girl and Dark Matter.

She played Kara Bozwick in Spiral.

Early Life[]

Zoie Palmer was born in Calne, Wiltshire, England, and emigrated to Canada when she was ten. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newmarket, Ontario, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University in Toronto in 2001. As a teenager, she had her first professional acting role in Summer Stock at the Red Barn Theatre in Jackson's Point, Ontario.

Career[]

Palmer's best-known role is that of Dr. Lauren Lewis in the Canadian series Lost Girl. Her television roles include Patti Reagan in The Reagans, Didi Goldstein in Out of the Ashes, and Abby in Devil's Perch. She had a recurring role as rock singer Patsy Sewer in the CTV teen drama/comedy series Instant Star. Palmer's guest appearances include an episode of Nikita as Anya Vimer, a terrorist trying to sabotage a peace summit, and Call Me Fitz as Laura, an unhinged amputee with plans for an escort service for disabled people. Following her work on Lost Girl, Palmer joined the main cast of the science-fiction series Dark Matter as The Android and hosted After Dark, the series' online aftershow.

She received the Best Actor Award for Terminal Venus at the 2004 Baja Film Festival in Mexico and the Gold Medallion Acting Award for Best Actress in a Feature Film for Cold Blooded at the 2012 Bare Bones International Film Festival. In 2011, she was nominated for the ACTRA Award for Outstanding Performance - Female for The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard. In 2014, Palmer was a nominee for the Canadian Comedy Awards for Multimedia / Best Female Performance in a Feature for her role in Sex After Kids.

Personal Life[]

Upon receiving her award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television for her work on Lost Girl, Palmer thanked Canadian film producer Alex Lalonde and their son, Luca, and publicly confirmed that she and Lalonde were in a relationship.

In 2018, she was a campaign ambassador for the annual WIFT Stars fundraiser of the Women in Film & Television Toronto.
