Sheila Shah (born October 23, 1983) is a film and television actress best known for her roles in The WiseGuys, The Tortured, and the Saw franchise.
She played Special Agent Cowan in Saw V.
Early Life[]
Sheila Shah grew up in Montreal, Canada, and relocated to Toronto when she was 13. She speaks fluent Farsi, French, and English. Shah's true calling was evident throughout her early years, from dance performances to theatre and modeling. In 2001, she won the title of Miss Iran, Canada. Late in 2007, she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time acting career.
Shah is the sister of twin brothers, one of whom has cerebral palsy. She has become the Ambassador of the March of Dimes and helped create awareness for the disease. She also advocates for CARE to help fight poverty by empowering girls and women and has helped other organizations, such as the David Lynch Foundation and Go Campaign.
Before dedicating herself to acting and having come from conservative parents, Shah was persuaded to study medicine. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and a Post Graduate Degree in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and subsequently worked in the pharmaceutical industry in both Toronto and Miami. While in Los Angeles, she graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in Merchandise Marketing from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
Career[]
Shah landed her first role as FBI Agent Cowan in the fifth installment of the Saw franchise in 2008, directed by David Hackl. Since then, she has appeared in other films and TV shows, such as the action film Mafia, FOX's drama feature Heart of The Country, and the CBS TV show How to be a Gentleman. Shah continues to hone her craft, training with acting coach Aaron Speiser.
