Scream Queens was an American reality TV series on VH1 produced by Joke Productions and Lionsgate Television, premiering in October 2008. The show chronicled a group of unknown actresses competing for a role in the Saw franchise.
Concept[]
Scream Queens was a reality competition series in which ten unknown actresses per season had to face various challenges for seven weeks, in which they had to prove their acting skills. A jury of three show hosts judged the candidates based on their performances. Every week, one participant was eliminated until only three actresses were left, who had to compete against each other in the finale. Ultimately, the winner was crowned Scream Queen and gained a small role in the Saw film series.
Season 1[]
The show was announced in June 2008 and premiered on October 20, 2008. In the first season, James Gunn directed the contestants during acting challenges, actress Shawnee Smith served as a mentor, and John Homa provided instructions. All three also acted as judges. Season 1 ended on December 8, 2008, when Tanedra Howard was crowned Scream Queen and won the role of Simone in Saw VI.
