Background[]
Parker Sears appears as one of Dr. Cecilia Pederson’s patients being treated for stage 4 Thyroid Cancer. Parker came off as a jovial, family man who’s family pooled all their money together for him to seek treatment for his cancer. Parker was in the middle of a post-surgery checkup when introduced to John Kramer during the latter’s tour of the facility. After the introduction, Sears wished Kramer the best of luck on his procedure.
During the night of the Pederson Group’s game, Parker suddenly appeared armed with a gun on the outside of the facility, having realized the operation was a scam and demanding his money back from Cecilia. Sears was subdued by Amanda, while his gun was confiscated by John. John empathizes and reassures Sears that he would be able to get his justice on Cecilia after she completed her game. However, John also gave Parker his own game: Sears was given the opportunity to watch John’s method of “rehabilitation” on the scammers but the only condition given to Sears was “no guns.” As the games went on, Sears only lamented in disgust and indifference on John and Amanda’s methods.
Death[]
In a twist of events after Gabriela’s test, Parker points his gun at John and Amanda and demands they free Cecilia. It is revealed that Parker is Cecilia’s lover and co-conspirator in the scam. The phone call Cecilia made earlier in the game was revealed to be Parker. Both the scammers force John into what would have been Cecilia’s game. Parker suggests putting Amanda on the other end, however, Cecilia puts the boy Carlos on the other end of the trap. While Cecilia revels at the sight of John suffering, a slightly horrified Parker quickly changes the focus on getting the money from the observation room and escaping with Cecilia.
While in the observation room, Sears ponders why there are two sides to the Bloodboarding Trap if Cecilia was meant to be the final player. As Cecilia takes the money bag, the doors to the observation room lock, the Bloodboarding Trap stops, and a 10-minute timer sets off. It’s revealed that Diego gave Parker’s identity and involvement away to John and that the duo anticipated his arrival this entire time. Due to Detective Mark Hoffman not being able to find Parker's location, John and Amanda had to find another way to draw him out, which ended up being the phone call Cecilia made earlier. As the room fills up with a poisonous gas, a small air-hole only big enough for one person appears. As the toxic gas begins burning their skin, pair immediately fight off against each other with Parker initially gaining the upper-hand. Cecilia then stabs him with the same blade she used to disembowel Valentina’s corpse, killing him.
Personality[]
Parker appears as a jovial man that’s happy to gain a new lease on life thanks to the Dr Cecilia Pederson’s treatment. When finding out the whole operation was a scam, he appears to shows a lot of regret, anger, and a sense of justice by wanting revenge on Cecilia.
In reality, Parker is just as selfish and uncaring as everyone else involved with the scam. He shows bravery and cockiness when he reveals himself and makes John & Amanda free Cecilia. While it appears him and Cecilia love each other, their true colors are exposed during their final test, when Parker ruthlessly fights Cecilia for the head-space without any hesitation. While he is despicable, he’s slightly less cruel than Cecilia when he shows a visible look of shock and horror seeing Carlos in the Bloodboarding Game.
Trivia[]
- Before the release of the film, it was believed he was going to be a detective investigating the games.
