Marisol Nichols (born November 2, 1973) is an American actress best known for her roles in 24 and Riverdale.
She played Captain Angie Garza in Spiral.
Early Life[]
Marisol Nichols was born in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Naperville with her mother and stepfather. Her biological father is of Russian-Jewish and Hungarian-Jewish descent. She is the oldest of three siblings and has two younger brothers.
Career[]
Nichols started her acting career by appearing on shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, Friends, and ER. She made her movie debut in Vegas Vacation, playing Audrey Griswald opposite Chevy Chase. Her movie appearances include Scream 2, Can't Hardly Wait, Bowfinger, and Jane Austen's Mafia.
Personal Life[]
In the 1990s, Nichols became a Scientologist, having been introduced to it by her chiropractor. She was married to Andrea Sorrentino, whom she met in Italy while filming My Father's Shoes, from 1995 to 1998. On April 13, 2008, she married director Taron Lexton. Their daughter, Rain India Lexton, was born in September 2008. In November 2018, Nichols filed for divorce.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Nichols stated that she was raped when she was eleven and that it "changed the entire trajectory of my life in a day." This trauma inspired her to create a non-profit organization called Foundation for a Slavery Free World, aiming for the global eradication of human trafficking. She is a deputized legal informant and participated in numerous undercover operations, leading to the successful arrest of dozens of traffickers and child predators. Sony Pictures recently bought the rights to her life story and is adapting it for a television series, with Nichols serving as an executive producer.
