Career[]

Born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Joseph Pierre graduated from York University with an Honours BFA in acting. He was a Governor General Awards finalist for his play Shakespeare's N***a, which explored racism by recontextualizing two Moorish characters from the plays of William Shakespeare - Aaron from Titus Andronicus and Othello from Othello - as slaves owned by Shakespeare in real life. His other works as a playwright include BeatDown, Pusha-Man, and Twisted. Throughout his career in the film industry, Pierre served as a consulting director for Empz 4 Life, the last documentary by Canadian icon Allan King.
