Day after day you live alone, isolating yourself, to avoid the stress of reality. You have tried to take your own life on multiple occasions because you cannot endure the mental pain of everyday life.

John, Jeff's second tape

Jeff was twice a victim of Jigsaw's experimental traps.

Appearances in the films

Saw

Jeff was bound to a chair with two drills facing his neck. Once activated, the drills moved towards his neck, and Detective Steven Sing was told that the key to stop them was on a ring filled with dozens of keys. Instead of using a key, Sing shot the drills, successfully deactivating them.

Saw IV

In the rough draft Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan originally wrote for Saw IV, Jeff was written to make an appearance as the test subject being forced to watch Strahm and Perez's progress.

Saw V

In Saw V, his family name is shown to be Ridenhour as indicated by a document observed by FBI Agent Peter Strahm.

Appearances in other media

Saw: The Videogame

In Saw: The Videogame, it is revealed that after Jeff escaped his trap in the first film, he was repeatedly questioned from David Tapp about Jigsaw, which eventually made him suicidal, which resulted in him being recaptured by Jigsaw as one of the trials in Tapp's game. After Jeff was rescued from his trap by Tapp, he ran off, continuing to live in fear of the world and the very man who saved him, David Tapp. In the Videogame, Jeff's family name is given as Thomas, so Jeff's second name is unclear.

Saw II: Flesh & Blood

In Saw II: Flesh & Blood, it is revealed that two days after he escaped Whitehurst Asylum (The building his second test took place in) he committed suicide. Case Files in Flesh & Blood also confirm that Jeff's family name is Ridenhour.
