Malcolm Neale? I remember that case. His wife was murdered five years ago. A home invasion. Perp slit her throat. They made him watch.
— Logan[src]

Malcolm Neale is a fictional character from the Saw franchise as well as a minor character in Jigsaw.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Malcolm Neale was a depraved gambler. Due to his frequent bets he ended up owing someone money but never paid his debt. Therefore the person to whom Malcolm owed money killed his wife in front of him at home. Malcolm was later arrested but was helped by Detective Brad Halloran to not be sent to prison for his gambling. (Jigsaw)

Abduction[]

Malcolm abducted by Logan Nelson

Ten years after a game created by John Kramer, better known as the Jigsaw Killer, in the farm of his wife's family, one of the test subjects in said game and Kramer's apprentice, Logan Nelson, decided to recreate it using criminals that were previously aided by Halloran. Malcolm and two others were chosen and abducted by Logan. After that, he took them inside an industrial room in said farm, chained their necks to walls with circular saws on them and placed buckets with green and red lights on their heads. Additionally, Logan had subdued Edgar Munsen, another criminal that was responsible for his wife's death and was also Halloran's informant. Edgar woke up inside an abandoned warehouse and received an audio tape, which gave him the instructions for a test. By 12 o'clock, he had to find a remote and use it to start the game. If he refused to do so, he would be killed on his own. (Jigsaw)

Death[]

The puzzle piece cut from Malcolm's corpse by Logan

After Edgar started the game, Malcolm and the other two prisoners awoke. They were pulled towards the wall of circular saws by the chains around their necks. The other two prisoners were able to pass the test by cutting themselves on the blades. The blood they spilled allowed them to get the buckets off their heads, and the walls opened for them to continue to the next test. However, Malcolm failed to do this and was mutilated by the saws and fatally half-decapitated. (Jigsaw)

Logan and Eleanor examine Malcolm's corpse at the morgue

After his death, Logan cuts a jigsaw piece from his neck and attaches a flash drive with the phrase "and then there were four" written on it, as a reference to the original game. Logan then hangs his body off a bridge in a park, where it is discovered the next morning. The corpse is taken to the morgue where Logan and Eleanor perform an autopsy on it. To cover up his involvement, Logan injects John Kramer's blood underneath Malcolm's fingernails to make it appear as though he is behind the new murders. (Jigsaw)

Personality[]

Not much can be said about Malcolm Neale's personality due to his short screen time, other than the fact that he was a depraved gambler.

Trivia[]

  • It's unknown whether or not Logan made it so that Malcolm wouldn't wake up in time, like what happened to Logan or not
  • Malcolm Neale was named after screenwriter Pete Goldfinger's late brother-in-law who passed away about the time when Jigsaw was filmed.
