David A. Armstrong is a cinematographer best known for his work on the Saw franchise.
He was the director of photography for Saw, Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, and Saw VI.
Career[]
David Armstrong is a film industry veteran with over a hundred feature film and television productions to his credit. He rose through the ranks as a cinematographer and served as Director of Photography for the Saw film series, making him one of the key team members in creating the popular franchise.
In his later career, Armstrong turned his attention to directing. In 2013, his directorial debut, Pawn, starred Forest Whitaker, Ray Liotta, Common, Stephen Lang, Michael Chiklis, Nikki Reed, and Martin Csokas.
On top of his extensive film set experience, he also holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in cinematography from AFI and CalArts, respectively. He has won numerous awards for cinematography, including the ASC Student Award at the 1999 Student Academy Awards.

Trivia[]
- While filming the scenes of Paul Leahy's death and the subsequent crime scene investigation in the first Saw film, Armstrong accidentally bumped against the ceiling and had to be taken to a hospital due to a mild concussion.
