Saw Wiki

The Cinespace Film Studios are a series of Canadian film studio facilities.

They were the shooting locations of Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D.

History[]

Founded by Greek-Canadian Nick Mirkopoulos in 1988, Cinespace Film Studios is a successful family business. It includes numerous movie sites in Ontario. The Toronto International Studios were established in Kleinburg, Ontario, in the 1950s and maintained by the Mirkopolous family until Cinespace moved out in 2015.

In 2007, Nick Mirkopoulos helped his Greek-American nephew Alex Pissios found a branch in Chicago, Cinespace Chicago Film Studios. The studio occupies the production plant previously owned by the Ryerson Steel Company.

In 2009, they acquired a campus at 777 Kipling Avenue in Toronto's Etobicoke area. During the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, Mayor of Toronto John Tory joined Cinespace officials to announce plans to build two new studios on the site, with a combined footprint of 50,000 square feet. One of the large studios will be permanently devoted to underwater filming.
