This trap consists of a harness attached to the victim's chest, only removable if the key was obtained in time. Attached to the harness was a contraption consisting of two masks opposite from each other angled down from the victim's head. The masks had nails protruding inwards from the interior. If not removed in time the masks would clamp together on the victim's head, driving the nails through the victim's skull. The victim was Michael Marks. To remove the device he had to find a key hidden behind his eye. Supplied with a scalpel, he needed to surgically remove his eye. Michael had trouble cutting into his own eye and broke under pressure, throwing the scalpel away and cursing Jigsaw, calling for help in the process. The time ran out and the two masks clamped shut into his skull, brutally killing him.

Tape: "Hello, Michael. I want to play a game. So far in what could loosely be called your life, you've made a living watching others. Society would call you an informant, a rat, a snitch. I call you unworthy of the body you possess, of the life you've been given. Now we will see if you are willing to look inward, rather than outward, to give up on the one thing you rely on in order to go on living. The device around your neck is a death mask. The mask is on a spring timer. If you do not locate the key in time the mask will close. Think of it like a Venus Flytrap. What you are looking at right now is your own body, not more than two hours ago. Don't worry, you're sound asleep and can't feel a thing. Taking into account that you are at a great disadvantage here, I am going to give you a hint as to where I've hidden the key. So listen carefully, a hint is this: it's right before your eyes. How much blood will you shed to stay alive, Michael? Live or die, make your choice."

The victims of this trap were Officer Pete Baker and two of his fellow SWAT team members. This trap was designed as a security device to secure Jigsaw's hideout inside the abandoned Wilson Steel Plant. Originally, it was merely an ordinary staircase surrounded by a chain-link cage. However, one of the wooden steps was manipulated. If enough pressure was exerted on the previous step, the rigged one would spring forward and break the legs of the person standing on the stairs. Moments later, the surrounding cage would be energized, giving everyone who touched it a lethal shock.

This trap consisted of a staircase with a rigged step surrounded by a chain link cage. The rigged step would spring forward and break the shins of the victim if enough pressure was applied to the stair below. This would also cause the cage door to shut. The cage would then be charged with an electric current giving anyone in contact with it a lethal shock.

The victims of this trap were Daniel Matthews, Jonas Singer, Gus Colyard, Addison Corday, Xavier Chavez, Laura Hunter and Obi Tate. All of them were trapped inside a large abandoned residential house and were breathing in a deadly nerve gas, similar to the Sarin Gas used during the Tokyo subway attacks on March 20, 1995. The large front door leading out of the house was secured from the outside by several metal bars. After three hours, the door would be opened. However, the prisoners would already succumb to the gas within two hours, as it caused severe internal bleedings. In order to survive, they had to find and pass the numerous tests set up all around the house by Jigsaw. Thereby, they'd be able to obtain syringes with the antidote. Primarily to observe the game and make sure that everyone followed the rules, Jigsaw's accomplice, Amanda Young, played as another victim.

This room, located on the ground floor of the Nerve Gas House, was the room where the seven prisoners and Amanda Young initially woke up and received their instructions. In the room was also a heavy safe, which contained a syringe with one of the antidotes for the nerve gas. Each one of the prisoners had a colored number written in the back of their necks. These numbers belonged to the combination to the safe and had to be entered in the order of the colors of the rainbow.
Obi Tate, Jonas Singer, Xavier Chavez, Daniel Matthews, Gus Colyard, Amanda Young, Laura Hunter and Addison Corday awoke in a house riddled with traps containing one for each person. They were breathing in a deadly gas and had to find the antidotes located in their respective traps to survive. In three hours, the door to the house would open; however, if they did not each find an antidote in two hours, they would die. Each trap contained a way to receive an antidote. A combination safe also contained an antidote, but the combination was hidden within different colored numbers written on the back of each victims neck, in the order of how they would appear on a rainbow. Several weapons are discovered including a single edged blade and a bat with nails driven through it.

Tape: "Greetings and welcome. I trust that you are all wondering where you are. I can assure you that while your location is not important, what these walls offer to you is important. Salvation, if you earn it. Three hours from now the door to this house will open. Unfortunately, you only have two hours to live. Right now you are breathing in a deadly nerve agent. You've been breathing it since you arrived here. Those of you familiar with the Tokyo subway attacks will know its devastating effects on the human body. The only way to overcome it and walk out that door is to find an antidote. Several are hidden around this house. One is inside the safe in front of you. You all possess the combination to the safe. Think hard, the numbers are in the back of your mind. The clue to their order can be found over the rainbow. Once you realize what you all have in common, you will gain a better understanding of why you're here. "X" marks the spot for that clue, so look carefully. Let the game begin."

The victim of this trap was Gus Colyard. This trap was designed as a security device to prevent the prisoners of the Nerve Gas House from leaving the Antidote Safe Room. It consisted of a metal contraption, which was mounted to the outside of the heavy metal door of the room. Attached to it was a revolver, aimed directly at the door's peephole. Additionally, the trigger of the gun was connected to a chain and a pulley, which in turn were connected to the lock of the door. The prisoners inside the room were provided with a key and a message, which warned them not to open the door with the key. If one of them did it nonetheless, this would trigger the revolver, which would then shoot whover stood in front of the peephole. Besides the trap itself, a timer was attached to the door. Once it went off, the door would open without activating the trap.

The victim of this trap was Obi Tate. He had to crawl into a large, metallic furnace located in the middle of the basement of the Nerve Gas House. Inside the furnace were two of the antidotes for the nerve gas, hanging from two chains. While one of the syringes could be easily removed, the chain with the second antidote was connected to the small door of the furnace. Once Obi pulled the chain, a mechanism would close and lock the door. Seconds later, the fire inside the oven would turn on and continously come closer to Obi as the burners of the oven turned on one by one. In order to survive, Obi had to crawl through the flames and turn a red valve next to the door. Next to it was a drawing of a red devil pointing at the valve. Turning it would turn off the gas supply of the oven which fueled the flames.
This was a security device to keep Jigsaw's subjects in the room for the required length of time. The trap consisted of a locked door with a gun attached on the other side of the peephole, and a pulley and chain to the doorknob on the other side of the door. The barrel of the gun was aimed directly at the peephole. When activated, a bullet will be fired through the peephole and into whomever's eye was in the line of fire.

The victim of this trap was Amanda Young, even though it was originally designed for Xavier Chavez. It was located in one of the rooms on the upper floor of the Nerve Gas House. The pit was actually a giant hole in the center of this room. It was filled with over tens of thousands of filthy, used syringes. Additionally, there were two doors in the room. The first one was a wooden door through which the room could be entered. The other door, located at the back part of the room, was a heavy metal door. Behind it was a syringe with an antidote for the nerve gas. Once the game began, the prisoners had only a few minutes to find the key, as otherwise, the door to the antidote would be locked permanently after a short time, making it impossible to obtain the antidote. The key was attached toa glow stick plugged in one of the countless syringes in the pit.

The victim had to crawl inside to get two antidotes suspended by chains connected to the door of the furnace. If pulled down, the door of the furnace would shut, igniting it at the same time. The only way to escape was to twist a knob that would turn off the gas and stop the fire from growing. The victim was Obi Tate and he was burned to death.

The victim of this trap was Addison Corday. It was located in one of the rooms of the Nerve Gas House and consisted of a large glass box suspended from the ceiling by four chains. Glued to the bottom of the box was a syringe with the antidote for the nerve gas. There were two holes in the bottom of the box, just big enough to put an arm through them. However, on top of the holes were large, sharp razor blades, which were impossible for the victim to see when standing in front of the box. If Addison put her hand through one of these holes, she'd be able to push the blades aside but couldn't pull her hand back out again, as every attempt to do so would cause the blades to cut deeper into her arms and wrists, leading to a massive loss of blood and subsequently her death. In order to obtain the antidote inside, Addison merely had to look at the other side of the box where a lock was located, with the key already sticking in it.

Tape: "Hello, Obi. I want to play a game. For years, you've burned those around you with your lies, cons and deceits. Now you'll have to redeem yourself, for the games you've played with others, by playing one of mine. Inside the device in front of you are two antidotes for the poison coursing through your veins. One is my gift to you for helping me kidnap the others. The second is yours to donate. However, one of them will come with a price. Remember, Obi, once you are in Hell, only the Devil can help you out."

The victim of this trap was Detective Eric Matthews. After finding John Kramer, the Jigsaw Killer, in his hideout due to a clue the latter had left for him, he was forced to play one his games. On several monitors, he saw recordings of the game in the Nerve Gas House, not knowing that the game was already over. One of the victims inside, Daniel Matthews, was Eric's son. In order to save him, Eric merely had to talk to John for the duration of two hours. Thinking that the video footage was live, he didn't know that Daniel had already survived the game and was locked up inside a safe in the same room as him and Jigsaw, tied up and provided with a sufficient supply of oxygen. Once the time expired, the safe would open automatically and release Daniel in a relatively unharmed state.

This trap involved a pit in the middle of a room filled with used syringes. A locked door in the room contained an antidote but was set on a four minute timer; if the timer expired, the door would remain locked forever. The victim had to jump into the pit of needles to find a key to the door. The key was attached to a glow stick hidden among the syringes. The trap was intended for Xavier, but instead he threw Amanda down, as he refused to enter. After Amanda found the key, she passed it to Xavier. However, just when Xavier was about to open the door, he dropped the key, causing the door to lock.

Tape: "Hello, Xavier. I want to play a game. The game I wanna play is very similar to the one that you've been playing as a drug dealer. The game of offering hope to desperate, for a price. I think we can agree that your situation is desperate. So I offer you hope. The price that you pay is that you you must crawl into the same pit of squalor you force your customers into. By entering this room, a timer has been started. When the timer expires, the door in front of you will be locked forever. Only in finding the key before the timer runs out can you unlock and retrieve the antidote inside. I will give you just one hint as to where that key is: it will be like finding a needle in a haystack so Let the game begin."

The Hand Trap
This trap involved a box suspended from the ceiling. Inside was an antidote accessible by two holes under the box, just big enough to fit a person's arms through. Once they did, however, the person would realize the corners of the holes were fitted with blades that would push up if something was inserted. If the person put pressure on the blades in order to take their hands out, the blades would dig into their arms. The harder they pulled, the deeper the blades would go. However, if the victim only studied the box further, there was a key on top of it which would open and allow safe access to the antidote. Although Addison feel victim to the trap, it was intended for Gus.

After having his son kidnapped by Jigsaw, Eric Matthews tried to convince Jigsaw to give up the whereabouts of the house. Jigsaw proposed a deal, stating that all Matthews had to do was sit down and have a conversation with him for a few hours, and he would get his son back. Eric resorted to brutality, and after beating Jigsaw to within an inch of his life, Jigsaw ended the game and took Matthews to the house. The detective entered the house only to find his son was not inside. Daniel was actually in the factory room with Jigsaw, locked in a timed safe and supplied with oxygen. The video feeds of the events which took place in the Nerve Gas House were a recording from hours before when the house test took place. If Eric tried to keep his patience, Daniel would have been released to him, as he was only a few feet from where he was sitting. Jigsaw even gave him a hint by saying Daniel would be 'in a safe and secure place'.

Eric failed the test by resorting to beating Jigsaw, and was subsequently drugged by Amanda and left chained to a pipe in the Bathroom Trap to die.
