The Bloodboarding Trap is a trap in Saw X.
Design and Function[]
The trap, when in standby mode, looks like an elevated floor with two chained collars and levers on opposing side. The chains, both connected to a rectangular metal grate, were long enough to give enough leeway for victims to (limitedly) move on and off the trap with the stairs next to the trap.
After both of the levers are pulled, supposedly by the victims, the trap activates. The chains are pulled back by a mechanical wench inside the elevated floor, forcing both subjects into supine positions on top of the elevated floor. The rectangular metal grate elevates from the ground, revealing itself as a table that also functions as a seesaw. Once secured, two pumps aimed at their respective victim would be lowered down and release a stream of blood.
Designed as a competition game, both victims would continue to have blood pour faces (akin to waterboarding) unless one pulls (or pushes) their respective lever. The levers and table function similarly to a scale; The way either side of the table is elevated (or lowered) is how strong their grip is of the lever. If a victim is able to lift their side of the table, their hose would deactivate.
The trap, as a failsafe, would deactivate if the Gas Chamber Trap was activated before the end of their game.
History[]
The game was designed for Cecilla Penderson and Parker Sears, but it was instead used by the two on Carlos and John Kramer. It is unclear whether this was a decoy trap intended for John and Amanda to be trapped in, or a trap truly intended for Cecilia and Parker with a failsafe in the event they overthrew and trapped John and Amanda.
Trivia[]
- This trap has several rare occurrences:
- The creator of the trap is unwillingly the victim.
- An innocent person is forced to become a victim.
- There are several ways to solve the trap, including a failsafe.
- This is the second time a victim has been boarded, albeit not with water, in the series. The first was the wax trap from Spiral, however chronologically, this one comes first.
- It may, therefore, have served as inspiration for the Jigsaw Copycat of that film.
