|
Barry is a fictional character from the Saw franchise. He was a minor antagonist in Saw II: Flesh & Blood.
Biography[]
Pyromania[]
Barry was a mentally unstable man who developed a pathological obsession with fire and became an arsonist. One day, he killed two people by burning them alive, which only fueled his devotion to flames. He was later arrested by Detective David Tapp and sent to prison. After serving his sentence, he was released but remained obsessed with fire. (Saw II: Flesh & Blood)
Test[]
Due to his crimes and his severe pyromania, he was eventually targeted by John Kramer, better known as the Jigsaw Killer. After his abduction, Barry was taken to the abandoned Holmes Hotel. When he woke up again, Barry was provided with several Molotov cocktails. An audiotape left by Jigsaw confronted him about his crimes and forced him to make a choice. Barry could either let go of his obsession or use the means provided for him to set the place on fire.

Barry throws a Molotov cocktail at Michael.
However, he was warned that the latter would ultimately result in his death. Nonetheless, Barry barely hesitated to indulge in his obsession once more. On his way through the hotel, he killed at least one of the other prisoners by burning him alive with a Molotov cocktail before escaping the building and going on to an abandoned chemical plant across from the hotel. Barry ultimately ended up on a catwalk near the plant's generator room when Michael Tapp, the son of Detective Tapp, made his way to the area while facing one of Jigsaw's games on his own. (Saw II: Flesh & Blood)
Death[]

Barry ignites himself.
Barry immediately began to throw his Molotov cocktails at the young man. Even when Michael fled to the next room, Barry followed him and attacked him from above. While evading his attacks, Michael noticed fire coming from a pipe. He redirected the gas with a valve, causing it to escape from another pipe above him. As Barry ignited his next Molotov cocktail, the pyromaniac also accidentally ignited the gas. In doing so, he caught fire and eventually died while screaming in agony and perverted satisfaction. With the flames posing no threat anymore, Michael went on and finally reached the generator room. (Saw II: Flesh & Blood)
Personality[]
Barry was a mentally unstable individual who suffered from severe pyromania. Due to his pathological obsession with fire, he loved it more than anything else. This obsession became evident on several occasions throughout his game set up by Jigsaw. When given the opportunity, Barry used the means provided to kill the other prisoners by burning them alive, showing no signs of hesitation or remorse. Even though Jigsaw warned him that indulging in his obsession would eventually lead to his downfall, Barry's unhealthy fascination with flames quickly got the better of him. When he accidentally ignited himself, he felt a twisted form of satisfaction as he died in the fire.
