History[]
Zep Hindle's Test[]
Several months after the beginning of his series of murders, John Kramer, better known as the Jigsaw Killer, targeted Zep Hindle, an orderly from the Angel of Mercy Hospital, who suffered from a severe inferiority complex. Therefore, John poisoned him and left him an audio tape, which provided instructions for Zep and told him that in order to get an antidote which could save his life, he had to kidnap Dr. Gordon's wife and daughter, Alison and Diana Gordon, and had to hold them hostage while Gordon was forced to play one of Jigsaw's games on his own. Furthermore, he had to kill Gordon's family if the latter didn't pass his test by killing his cellmate, Adam Stanheight, by six o'clock.
Nerve Gas House[]
At one point during his series of murders, John Kramer targeted the corrupt Detective Eric Matthews, who had framed and arrested numerous innocent people throughout his career, including one of John's apprentices, Amanda Young. Therefore, they decided to set up a big game which was going to be directly connected to Eric's test. This game focused on seven people. The first one was Daniel Matthews, Eric's son, who had become estranged from him after he had cheated on Daniel's mother with his former partner, Detective Allison Kerry. The other people tested throughout the game were Jonas Singer, his manager Gus Colyard, the prostitute Addison Corday, the drug dealer Xavier Chavez, Laura Hunter and Obi Tate. Additionally, Amanda participated in the game as well and played as another victim primarily in order to observe the other prisoners' progress.
While the doors would open in three hours, the gas would already kill them after two hours. In order to survive, the prisoners had to find syringes containing the antidote, which were hidden throughout the house, with one of them being inside the safe.
Antidote Safe Room[]
Shortly afterwards, the prisoners woke up and were immediately frightened by the situation. Jonas tried to wake up Amanda, who was the last one who was still unconscious, while Addison yelled that someone should open the door. Xavier sarcastically commented that no one was listening to which Laura responded that someone was and pointed at a camera. However, Daniel, who squatted in a corner out of fear, said that those kinds of cameras didn't record sounds. The group's concerns grew worse when Gus suddenly started to panic. Gus talked about a movie he had seen about a man who had been trapped in a room for 9 years, which frightened the others, especially Laura, and caused a discussion with Xavier. They were quickly interrupted when Addison heard a ticking on the other side of the door. However, before they could find out what it was, Amanda suddenly woke up. Playing her role as another victim, she behaved as if she were in a panic and searched the room until she finally found the instruction tape as well as the key and the message which warned them not to use the key to open any door in the room.
The tape told them that they were all breathing in a deadly nerve gas since the moment they arrived in the house. While the doors would open after three hours the gas would already kill them after two hours. In order to survive the prisoners had to find syringes with the antidote which were hidden in the house with one of them being in the safe. Additionally, Jigsaw told them that they all had a connection and told them that the clue to this connection was marked with a "X". After listening to the tape Xavier grabbed the key. Amanda begged him to listen to the message which warned them not to use the key to open any door in the room. However, he refused to do so and tried to open the door which activated the booby trap and caused a magnum on the other side to go off and shoot Gus Colyard right in the eye. While the other prisoners panicked, Jonas demanded Amanda to tell him how she knew about the tape. She then told them about Jigsaw and his games and therefore also revealed that she had survived one of his tests before.
As they now knew the amount of danger in their situation, the group began to search the whole room. Daniel picked up Gus' jacket from the floor and used it to cover the latter's mutilated head. Moments later the door of the room finally opened. Jonas was shocked when he saw the magnum trap which had killed Gus. Amanda tried to remove the gun and take it with her, albeit unsuccessful. Therefore, the group left the room behind and made their way to the entrance hall. (Saw II)
Obi Tate's Test[]
The antidotes in the Furnace
Xavier took the lamp from Addison and slowly went down the stairs, followed by the others. Upon entering the basement, they found a mysterious hooded figure sitting at the table. Xavier placed the lamp in front of it and prepared to kill the figure, if he or she would move. However, when Jonas took the hood from its head, they realized it was merely a mannequin. A small envelope with the name "Obi" written on it was pinned to the mannequin's chest with a knife. Xavier grabbed it and opened the envelope, which contained an audio tape. When they played it, using the recorder from the starting room, it revealed to them that their fellow prisoner, Obi, had assisted Jigsaw in their abductions, causing Laura to recognize him. Furthermore, the tape told him that in order to redeem himself, he had to crawl into the large furnace in front of them, where two syringes with the antidote were waiting for him: one for him and one for another prisoner of his choice.
Xavier Chavez' Test[]
When the group went upstairs, Addison tried to open the door but remarked that it was stuck. Xavier then angrily shoved her away and attempted to open it by brute force, to which Amanda responded that the room was most likely a trap. Xavier sarcastically told her that the whole house was a trap and went on until he finally managed to open the door. Unfortunately, this caused a metal pin to be pulled out of a timer which was connected to another door. Daniel told Laura to wait in the hallway and followed the rest of the group into the room. An audio tape left for Xavier by Jigsaw told him that there was another antidote behind the second door. However, it would be locked permanently if he didn't manage to find the key in time. Moments later, Daniel found a pit full of thousands of used syringes hidden under a bed. According to Jigsaw, the key to the door was somewhere in the pit.
Razor Box[]
The antidote in the Razor Box
At this point, Addison had found another antidote on her own, which was glued to the bottom of a large glass box suspended from the ceiling by four chains. She found another envelope with a tape inside but threw it away as she didn't have the recorder with her. Instead, she tried to grab the antidote by inserting her hand in one of two holes on the bottom of the box. However, she accidentally pulled off the upper part of the syringe and therefore spilled the antidote. Ridden by fear and desperation, she put her other hand in the second hole. Unfortunately, there were razor sharp blades placed above the holes, which now prevented her from pulling her arms back out. Addison then started to cry and screamed for help. By following her voice, Xavier eventually reached the room. However, instead of helping her, he only checked the number on the back of her neck, a blue "9". After obtaining the number, Xavier slowly walked out of the room and closed the door behind him, leaving Addison for death.
Cumulation[]
Eric finds the Antidote Amanda used on Daniel
However, as she and Daniel were the only survivors left in the house, the time had come for the next part of her and John's plan. Amanda subdued Daniel and injected him with the antidote from the safe. Afterwards, she took his unconscious body with her and brought him to the Wilson Steel Plant, where Jigsaw was already waiting for her to arrive. Later when Eric and John finally arrived at the Nerve Gas House, John gave him the key and waited in the car as Eric entered the building. As he searched the house, he stumbled upon the dead body of Laura Hunter. He ultimately reached the room where the game had begun and also found the corpses of Gus Colyard and Jonas Singer, which already showed obvious signs of decomposition. Furthermore, he discovered a used syringe which had once contained a dose of the antidote the victims had to find in order to survive the effects of the nerve gas.
Chain Hangers[]
The syringes
The trap involved the remaining survivors from the Bucket Room. The victims would be pulled by their chains towards a pulley on the opposite side of the room. In order to release the pulley and stop the chain, a participant must grab the tape from the grasp of Billy the Puppet, which would pull on a trigger, stopping the pulley. A small container holding three needles was then lowered down. One of the survivors was injected with poison, and the needles each contained a solution: one contained the antidote to the poison, one contained a saline solution, and the third one contained a potent acid. The participant's chains were then slowly pulled towards the ceiling, eventually hanging them. In order for all participants to survive the trap, the antidote must be injected into the poisoned victim. At this moment, the metal contraption formerly holding the needles was moved back to the ceiling. As their time was over, Ryan desperately begged Carly to tell him which needle she wanted. However, despite knowing which syringe was the correct one, she refused to choose one as she was too afraid that she might pick the acid. Eventually, the chains around their necks began to pull them upward, strangling them in the process. In an attempt to save their lives, Ryan grabbed Carly and tried to stab her with the syringes. Anna wanted to prevent him from doing so but was unable to hold him back. After struggling with Carly several feet above the floor, Ryan ultimately managed to stick all three of the needles into her neck. This action immediately released all four of them from their shackles, causing them to fall to the ground and allowing them to breathe. Moments later, however, Anna, Mitch, and Ryan witnessed the deadly effects of the acid as Carly started to bleed from her eyes and her neck. Although she ripped out the needles, the acid ate its way through her skin, killing her.
Recreation[]
Logan Nelson decides to remake the trap 10 years later using criminals from Detective Brad Halloran's cases. One woman is seen holding the 3 needles. However, she chooses the wrong one and subsequently dies.
David Tapp's Test[]
Detox Chair
The persons tested in this trap were David Tapp, a detective obsessed with apprehending John Kramer, better known as the Jigsaw Killer, and Amanda Young, a former drug addict and the first survivor of one of Jigsaw's games, who had been chosen for this second test as she had developed self-harming tendencies. When Amanda woke up in her trap at the abandoned Whitehurst Insane Asylum, she was greeted by Jigsaw and therefore immediately panicked. Jigsaw confronted her with her acts of self-harm by cutting herself and therefore was convinced that she hadn't learned anything from her last test. She tried to convince him otherwise and told him to let her go. However, he told her that Detective Tapp, who was trapped at the asylum as well, would soon come to save her. Meanwhile, Tapp was able to observe their conversations over several monitors placed all around the asylum.
When Tapp finally reached the operating theatre where Amanda was trapped, she frantically begged him to free her from the chair. Moments later, a TV turned on in front of them. Jigsaw's mechanical ventriloquist puppet appeared on the screen and once more confronted Amanda with her drug addiction and her acts of self-harm. Thereby, he also told her that only Detective Tapp could save her from her trap. Meanwhile, her arms were injected with poison
When the tape ended and the TV turned off again, Tapp sat down on the second chair and was injected with poison on his own by two needles which pierced his neck. While Amanda further panicked, Tapp tried to administer all the colored vials to the correct side. Eventually, he managed to cure himself and Amanda from the poisons and both of them were released from their chairs. As Amanda was still agitated, Tapp tried to calm her down. However, when she told her that she had seen Jigsaw and he asked her who he was and what he looked like, Amanda got angry as Tapp was more interested in Jigsaw rather than the fact that she had almost been killed by the trap. Furthermore, she blamed him for having been tested again. Nonetheless, the two of them went on and continued their way together. (Saw: The Video Game)
